Lake Victoria South Water Services Board was established on 12th March 2004 vide gazette notice No.1714 under the Water Act 2002 as a State Corporation. It is responsible for the provision of efficient and economical Water and Sanitation Services in Kisumu, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya and some parts of Nandi and Narok Counties.

The Board intends to recruit a self-driven, result oriented and qualified individual to fill the following vacant post:

REF: HR. 1/12/2018 - ACCOUNTANT


Duties and Responsibilities

The Accountant is responsible for the following:-

  • Implementing financial controls, processes and procedures
  • Preparation of accounts and expenditure reports
  • Preparation and maintenance of books of accounts
  • Processing of payments
  • Monitoring of revenue collection and reporting thereof
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation reports
  • Assist in preparing and implementing budgets.
  • Keep record of daily financial transactions and adhere to accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this position the successful candidate must:-

  • Have a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option) from a recognized University
  • Have a CPA III
  • Be a member of ICPAK
  • Have at least 6 years experience in finance management preferably in a public institution.
  • Have experience in use of ERP system or any other accounting system
  • Have knowledge of preparing final accounts according to the PFM Act.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on integrity and leadership. Please attach   copies of compliance certificates from KRA, EACC and HELB and a certificate of good conduct       from the CID.

Eng. Petronilla Ogut - Chief Executive Officer Lake Victoria South Water Service Board

Eng. Petronilla Ogut is currently the LVSWSB’s Chief Executive Officer. She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with BSc (Science and Civil Engineering) and has MSc (Hydro informatics) from the International Institute for Infrastructural, Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering Netherlands. She also holds MBA from Strathmore University, Diploma in Corporate Finance and management in Sorbonne University Paris France.  She is a Registered Engineer with Engineers Registration Board of Kenya

Mr. S. K. Kigen - Chief Manager Human Resources and Administration

Has a degree in Anthropology and Governance with a higher Diploma in Human resources and a vast experience in Human Resource Management. He is in charge of the Human Resource Issues at Lake Victoria South Water Services Board.

Mr. John Francis Adongo - Chief Manager Finance

John Francis Adongo has joined Lake Victoria South Water Services Board (LVSWSB) as Chief Manager Finance.

He was previously the senior accountant in the Homa Bay county government treasury, where he was responsible for bank reconciliation, cash flow analysis and financial strategy.

With a background in Information Technology, and extensive experience in public service management, the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Option) graduate will be a great asset to the board. Mr. Adongo is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Public Secretary (CPS).
